(I forgot to credit him in the vid o_O ********* Please read this thread: www.smashboards.com ********* Each character will have its own best strategies to recover in Brawl. It will depend on your damage, as well as your proximity to the different killzones. This video shows some of the phenomena in recovering, where you are sent a very large distance across the stage. You can interrupt hitstun mid-way using an airdodge, aerial, tether (Z-air), or by throwing an item. DO NOT AIRDODGE: every character (except Snake!??) has at least one aerial that ends faster than the airdodge. You can fastfall the aerial to decrease your vertical knockback, and when it’s done you’ll have improved aerial momentum to counteract knockback. Cancelling hitstun will also allow you to use a Jump or Special to fight against knockback — but there’s a catch! Using a Jump or Special in knockback gives you an extra boost AWAY from the stage — a sudden extra surge of knockback. This is a penalty for trying to cheat the recovery system….. but it doesn’t fully work. Most of the time, a midair jump is worth the penalty for using it, and some characters have Specials that also work well enough: Sonic’s side-B and down-B (thanks da KID!), Pikachu’s side-B, and I’m sure there are others.
